The Faculty of Biological and Veterinary Sciences fared very favorably in this year's Perspektywy Ranking by Subject, which included 74 majors, covering natural sciences among others.
The Ranking Board singled out two majors run by the Faculty of Biological and Veterinary Sciences at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun. Biotechnology maintained its last year's high 6th position with an FWCI (Field Weighted Citation Impact, referring to the number of times a publication has been viewed) of 89.80 points, while biology ranked 11th with an FWCI value of 81.30 points.
The Perspektywy University Ranking is one of the most well-known and prestigious rankings of universities in Poland. It is prepared by the Perspektywy Educational Foundation in cooperation with the "Perspektywy" magazine and experts in the field of education forming the Ranking Board chaired by Professor Michał Kleiber, former president of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
The Perspektywy Ranking evaluates Polish higher education institutions on the basis of 30 indicators under 7 criteria: innovation, scientific potential, educational conditions, scientific efficiency, internationalization, graduates on the labor market and prestige.
In this year's Perspektywy University Ranking, the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun ranked 20th among 102 universities included on the list. In turn, in the Ranking by University type, NCU was ranked 6th.
In the category of scientific potential, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun took a high 4th place, obtaining 95.1 points of the ranking index. The highest position on the podium went to Jagiellonian University in Krakow (100 points), second place went to Warsaw University (99.2 points) and third to Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan (95.2 points).
In terms of educational conditions, our university ranked 5th with a ranking index of 71.9 points.
