Fabiana Figurati, a Master's student of the Double Degree Programme in "Biology for Sustainability" (Parthenope University, Italy) / Global Change Biology (NCU, Poland), won the award as best poster at the 7th Scientific Symposium “Ecosystem Services in transdisciplinary approach” – ECOSERV 2023 organised at the Adam Mickiewicz University of Poznań (Poland).
The study entitled "Regulating Ecosystem Services: The Role of Urban Forests in the Removal of Particulate Matter in the Bydgoszcz-Torun area (Poland)" highlighted the critical role played by urban forests in generating the ecosystem service of atmospheric particulate matter removal, significantly contributing to ecosystems and human health. At the same conference, a PhD student of Academia Copernicana, taking part in the double-degree PhD program, also presented the results of his research. His presentation concerned the application of the SEEA-EA rating system to forest ecosystems and was very popular. Prof. Pier Paolo Franzese and Prof. Agnieszka Piernik supervise both students.
